Rooflight - Conservatory Film

The purpose made film ‘CoolKote’ has been specifically designed for use with polycarbonate roof systems.

A hot conservatory or too much light or glare often makes a conservatory uncomfortable or even impossible to use.

CoolKote Conservatory Film is an aluminium-coated vinyl which rejects 80% of the solar heat gain and reduces glare by 70%.

CoolKote is one of the most effective films available as it can be fitted internally or externally – is also suitable for use on slightly rough surfaces such as rough cast Georgian wire glass, corrugated roof panels, roof lights and factory skylights.

It has a pleasing blue/grey colour which enhances the appearance of the polycarbonate.

Your conservatory is a very effective heat trap.

The Problem

Despite spending many thousands of pounds on a beautiful conservatory, it is a sad fact that many suffer from intolerable heat and glare problems making them virtually unusable for many months of the year. Temperatures well in excess of 100°F are often recorded and excessive glare often makes an everyday pleasure such as reading the newspaper impossible.

The Solutions:-

Standard Blinds:

Fabric, pleated and slatted blinds offer low performance as the material can only absorb and then re-radiate the heat. Many users complain of maintenance and cleaning issues.

Reflective Blinds:

Blinds with a reflective coating offer higher performance but are more expensive and still absorb and re-radiate the heat.

Air Conditioning:

AC units can be effective at reducing the internal temperatures but are expensive to purchase and run, which hurts your wallet and the environment.

What is CoolKote™?

CoolKote™ is a patented, solar control film applied to polycarbonate and glass roof systems. Its metallized surface gives a dramatic reduction of the incoming solar heat by continuously reflecting it away. CoolKote™ not only reduces unwanted heat and glare but cuts out over 99% of harmful UV rays.

You will benefit from an immediate reduction in internal daytime temperatures and less glare, whilst an ultra-violet barrier helps prevent fading and sun damage to furnishings. CoolKote™ is inexpensive, effective and is applied quickly, cleanly and with the minimum of disruption to your existing polycarbonate or glass roof by members of an approved national network of highly trained professional installers.

Why use CoolKote™?

CoolKote™ film has been designed and developed especially for application internally or externally to polycarbonate and most plastic roofs. Once applied it requires little or no maintenance and has high solar rejection and glare reduction properties.

CoolKote™ is patented and all installations professionally applied carry an eight-year internal and up to three-year external manufacturer’s warranty against peeling, cracking, demetallization and discolouration.

CoolKote™ is typically, over half the cost of blinds – yet is more effective! See table below for a price comparison example.

CoolKote™ vs. Blinds

“I wish we could have had CoolKote™ fitted years ago. Whenever the sun shone it was always too hot and the blinds didn’t make any difference.”

Roller and pleated roof blinds provide shade, but can attract dust and insects, and are difficult to clean, whilst the heat still penetrates the fabric, which then filters through to the interior.
